It's main objective is to implement a profitable biotechnology research model in which the R&D activity of the participating regions is aligned with the needs of the companies or is the engine for the creation of these. That is, to PROMOTE THE TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY.
This project arises from the need to improve the weaknesses of the life cycle of a biotechnology product or service, in order to establish an effective research-to-market transition, turning it into a job and business opportunity. The universities usually only face the first stages of the cycle and the results do not mature, being difficult to transfer to the business world through the usual mechanisms. It is exactly at this point that we want to act.
The robustness and guarantee of success of this project is based on the application of the results and experience acquired during its predecessors: BIÓPOLIS (PIC INTERREG IIIC call), BIOPHARMAC (MAC/1/C104) and BIOTRANSFER (MAC/3/C224). BIOTRANSFER2 will serve as a tool to encourage the maturation of research, which will increase the capacity and effectiveness of the region's technological transfer and will favour bio-entrepreneurship and creation of technology-based spin-off companies, by contributing to the development of a favourable collaboration environment that allows such transfer of research results.
